>Check out the Dallas SLNT launch trailers (snip) The trailer looks like the Long Chih, its an inexpensive utility trailer from Taiwan that can be bought mail order for about $200US. I got one last Summer to haul a motorcycle, it came in three cardboard boxes, and I am very pleased with it.
Its easy to build, certainly no problem for anyone who can assemble a sailplane. It can carry about 1000lbs, plenty for a winch, retriver, some batteries, a charger and a box of accessories. --------------------------------- For winch connoisseurs I have a snapshot of a 'jelly' (paraglider) that was being tested at our field the morning of the recent (SC)2 contest. We're quite used to people turning up with electric planes and having to explain at length about how the school district doesn't permit us to fly any type of powered plane (invariably annoying them in the process)(we try to be diplomatic, suggesting alternatives and so on but often it just doesn't work). This just upped the ante a bit. They initially set up in our landing area but after some "discussion" they reluctantly agreed to move to another part of the field where they'd just be a bit of visual interest and maybe an extra landing hazard. These devices appear to need a winch as well as their normal propellor to get them airborne, and their winch was mounted on one of those big-wheeled "Big Red" wagons that Brett Jaffee mentioned in his post. So, I figure that if the wagon can cope with the loads from this winch then it should work OK for a model sailplane winch. Martin Usher RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
