In a Larry Jolly post on this subject, he said I didn't have Man on Man
development in California right. I wasn't referring to development in Ca.
in my post, I was referring to a specific contest, the 1976 LSF Tournament
in Santa Rosa, Ca.
But thanks, to Chris Adams post, I can now understand the development of
Man on Man in California and why California pilots are opposed to flying
winners against winners. And I guess this covers all the folks that are
negative to winners flying against winners. They want to stay out of the
kitchen.
That is ok, I agree with Steve Siebenaler, a contest is a contest, and I
enjoy just being a part of the contest.
The Dave Thornburg Sunbird Classic contest is coming up in February, 2000,
Friday of the "Southwest Classic" contest in Phoenix. I am looking for a
comp. program to run the event on a random Man on Man group launching
format. We
will not fly true man on man (seeded), when in Rome, you do what the
Romans do, right. We want this to be a fun social gathering to commemorate
Dave's first hand launch contest some 25 years ago, which Chris Adams was a
part of. We will have two classes of events, Dave's original rules " no
limit on wing span" and Dave's Sunbird kit in a one of a kind event.
So far the list of volunteer helpers are: Bob Massman, Ohio.. Dick Hoover,
Michigan... Tom Gates,..Michigan.... Chris Corven, Arizona... oh yes, the
man himself Dave Thornburg.
Come spend a day with Dave, it will be a blast.
