The first LOFT/OVSS Fall Round Up is in the books, and it was every bit plus
200% of what we had hoped for. As the gracious Jim Deck has pointed out
earlier, we flew seeded man-on-man in RES and Unlimited classes. On
Saturday we had 12 and 32 entries, and Sunday had 18 and 36 fly in the
respctive classes.

As Jim stated, the AMA site was tremendous, both in equipment and just TLC
of us as a contest. Many thanks go to Steve Kaluf and his crew for checking
on us many times over the weekend and Friday just making sure that we were
doing OK. I do not agree with all that AMA does, but after this, I am glad
I am paying my dues.

The field and weather were nearly perfect all weekend, we set the winches on
Friday and never moved them again. But just because the weather was great,
lift was a bit finicky and many a good flier was hung by fickle fate. The
results were:

Saturday:
RES - 1st - Paul Siegel
            2nd - Marc Gellart
            3rd - Frank Foster

Unlimited - 1st - Paul Borrer
                    2nd - Paul Siegel
                    3rd - Mario Scolari

Sunday:
RES - 1st - David Wrinkle
            2nd - Paul Siegel
            3rd - Jack Beatley

Unlimited - 1st - Mike Remus - Mike was also 1999 OVSS Season Champion as
well!
                    2nd - Karl Miller
                    3rd - Jerry Shape

Many thanks go out to the folks who traveled to our contest from 5 states
(we would have had a sixth if someone from Wisconsin had not forgot
something). Special thanks go to Dennis Adamisin, Bill Friend, Mike and Peg
Remus, Denny Zech, Bob Massmann, David Smith, Jim Deck, Reggie Sewell, and
Bill Krauskopf for helping run and put up and take down the contest. I hope
that I did not forget anyone...

We are planning this for next year, so watch for more to come. With some
changes and refined mangement, it will be even better in 2000.

Marc Gellart, Lima, Ohio
LOFT President
OVSS Coordinator

PS: Thrill of the weekend, got to fly large scale sailplane for the fist
time Sunday evening, what a sweetie. Thanks Paul and Rudy for giving me the
chance. Anyone got one reasonable?
