Anything that you can use on a plastic model, as they too are often made
of polystyrene! But I would recommend a water-based house paint! Even 
ordinary watercolours (Dr Martin's airbrush colours to mention one 
brand) can be added to PVA and used as a paint that will stick very 
well! Acrylic paints, as used by artists, or most uretane paints, to 
mention a few! Not solvent-based laquers, of course!
