tomorrow. Here is the information:
SoCal - SWSA HL Contest 2/5/06
The Silent Wings Soaring Association will be holding our first Handlaunch
contest of the year on Sunday, February 5th 2006. All HL pilots with a
current AMA membership are welcome to attend. Proof of AMA membership is
required.
We particularly wish to welcome all new HL pilots. This contest will be a
lot of fun, and serve as a great introduction to HL contesting.
Contest Schedule:
8:00 AM - Field Opens
9:00 AM - Pilot Meeting
9:30 AM - Contest Begins
Tasks:
The tasks are patterned after some common tasks flown at the IHLGF, some
with a bit of extra time thrown in to de-emphasize the quick turnaround and
take the stress level down a few notches.
Round 1 (10 Minute Window): Total Time. 3 minute max time per flight. Ten
second penalty per throw after the first 4 throws.
Round 2 (10 Minute Window): Five longest flights. 2 minute max time per
flight.
Round 3 (10 Minute Window): Three longest flights. 3 minute max per flight.
Round 4 (10 Minute Window): 1, 2, 3, and 4 minute flight (in any order).
Registration:
Registration will take place the morning of the contest. If at all possible,
please drop us a note letting us know that you are planning to attend, and
your first and second frequency choices. On the day of the contest, please
be prepared to use any of the frequencies that you have submitted.
Location:
The contest will be held at SWSA's Fish Canyon site.

Contest Fee:
A small fee of $5 per entrant is required.
Facilities:
At this time there are no facilities of any kind on the field. The nearest
fast food facilities are on Irwindale Avenue just north of the freeway.
(Service station, McDonald's, Farmer Boys and Denny's.)
We will, however, have cold water and sodas available for purchase.
