That's right, the Multiplex/Tangent ASH26/Alpina4001 ( they use the same
wings ) have no "joiner system" as such, just the 12 mm stainless steel
rod, which joins the wings, and carries the bending load, and , as
Brian already pointed out, is of the floating type, the joiner rod does
not touch the fuselage.
The fuselage "hangs" on the wings by means of 2 pins on each wing,
which engage in the dorresonding holes in the fuselage. The wings are
secured to the fuselage by means of the Multilock system, which workes
very well.
The Multilocks are strong enough to hold the wings to the fuselage
during any flight maneuver you might come up with, put will pop loose
on a rough landing, to dissipate energy, and avoid damage.
