Optional Fly Off ............
Some other clubs have contacted me about the Ladder and I'm suggesting they make the decision to include the fly off or just fly till they drop. Every Ladder, fly off or no fly off, should have a cut off time of coarse. The fly off could also be set up as a class by itself with in the contest. Example: give the entrant the option of competing in the Ladder with out a fly off or the Ladder with the fly off. Everyone is on their own ch, so the fly off could be taking place while the other class is still flying. There will be some pilots like my self that want that extra level of competition. Rules: _________________ One entry per frequency 3 minute Ladder Task flight steps are consecutive, not random unlimited number of attempts Pilots self time their flights and record each flight on the provided score card before attempting another flight. Accuracy of flight time over the task time is not important because of the fly off rounds. Pilot's goal is qualifying for two Fly Off rounds CD announces time to end qualifying flights during pilots meeting to allow time for the two Fly Off rounds Fly off qualification: CD determines number of top flyers that can qualify for fly off rounds based on number of entrants. Example: Contest with 5 entrants could be set up to allow the top 3 pilot's scores qualify for the two Fly Off rounds. A contest with 20 contestants could be set up for 6 top pilot's to qualify. If a qualifying contestant can not or chooses not to fly in the Fly Off rounds, the next best scoring pilot can take his place in the Fly Off. Fly Off tasks: ___________________ two rounds ... each in a 20 minute window ... of two flights each round: First Round : One 2 minute AMA precision duration task and one 6 minute AMA precision duration task. 25 ft. 100 point landing tape. Pilot calls the flight task (2 m or 6 m) during the first minute after launch release when flight time begins. Flight receives a Zero score if pilot does not clearly inform his timer during the first minute of flight which task time he has chosen. Second Round : One 2 minute AMA precision duration task and one 10 minute AMA precision duration task. 25 ft. 100 point landing tape. Pilot calls the flight task (2 m or 10 m) during the first minute after launch release when flight time begins. Flight receives a Zero score if pilot does not clearly inform his timer during the first minute of flight which task time he has chosen. _________________ This contest is very easy to administer, provides a lot of flight time and ends with an exciting Fly Off. This event can be used in monthly club contests to attract a larger number of entrants as well as club sanctioned contests.
