Jim I use the above battery for retrieving my winch line at the end of the flying session. I have a Tim McCann winch and I find the 12 volt battery a bit daunting when reeling in the line when the day is done. The 6 volt battery is perfect for this task and I must say much safer. I think it might just fill the bill for what you want the battery for. Back in the early 80"s I bought a winch from a company in Idaho(I think) that had 3 solenoids and a 3 position foot pedal which allowed for 6 volt, 9 volt and 12 volts depending on how far you pushed the pedal down. It was perfect for different types of planes and I still have it and always liked the idea of reeling in the line at the end of the day at 6 volt speed. Maybe, someone on the exchange will remember the name of this winch. I know there was an ad in the National Soaring Society magazine back then.
Hope this will help, sorry for the rambling.

Best Regards,

Robert
