I bought a Hitec 555 in December, hooked it up and did a rough receiver check. It seemed to work okay. Well, I put it in a foamy I was building (EPP Red Herring). I routed a piece of wire within the foam just as long as I could for the antenna. Snipped off the original antenna and soldered on my new one. Well, it didn't work too well. I could only get about a 60 foot range. So I pulled the radio and re-soldered the original antenna. It still didn't work. I figured that the radio was bad so I sent it back to Hitec. I expected that I had voided the warranty since I had snipped the antenna. Although I try to be ESD savvy, I might have zapped the receiver when I clipped the antenna. A few weeks later, they sent me a band new receiver. Great company! I'll be buying two more 555's in a couple of days. Curt Thompson Seattle, WA, USA p.s. Now I wonder if Hitec will fix the 555 were I shorted the battery after removing the 555 from its case? Probably pressing my luck. RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
