Options:

A) Cut all the way through, as Tord suggested. Then remove the plug, cut
off material the size of the hole you need, glue the remainder of the plug
back. Works very well for shallow sections like wing servo or sideways in a
narrow fuse. Can be hard to execute if the material is thick, like
vertically in a tall fuse.

B) Cut the sides of the hole and dig out the scrap with a screwdriver or
such. It's only foam. A bit messy and leaves a rough bottom but can be
done to several inches deep in a blind hole.

C) Rout it out with a Dremmel. Can produce a clean cut and flat bottom but
it is ammazingly messy with foam dust everywhere. Wear a mask.

D) Melt it out with a piece of hot metal. You can also rig a shaped wire on
a soldering gun which works very well for pockets. Have good ventillation.

E) Cut the nose off, cut the pockets you need in the interior using any
method above, insert components wrapped in plastic or waxed paper, glue the
nose back on. Remember the strength is in the fiber tape, not the foam.
Creates a neater result and well protected components but can be hard to
locate or access components for repairs.
