I broke the carbon tube spar in my EPP Cyclone this weekend. The top of the
wing hit flat on the slope face in a failed attempt at a landing. I still
need to do some more forensics, but it looks like the spar is two 36" tubes
joined at the wing center with another inner tube. The break occurred right
at the end of the inner tube. Can I splice this joint with another smaller
inner tube or an outer tube, or should I build a new tube spar and replace
the whole thing. The TE is balsa and /or spruce and it broke also. Can
this be repaired using CA or Epoxy, or should I replace it too? This is the
first plane I've had that I didn't built myself, so I don't have a "feel"
for it as much as my others. Weight is not really an issue and aesthetics
are out the window already =)
TIA
