It's more than an issue of upgrading your computer.  I think it is not a
problem for most of us in the US to read HTML, but in many countries, ISP's
still charge by the minute or by the byte for internet or email access.
This can impact your hobby budget if you get a bunch of HTML junk in every
message.  This is a worldwide resource and the rule is no HTML.
