Dudes,
I have it from "The History of the U.S. Air Force" that the first
kill of a "bad guy"[not a MiG though] by piston engined plane was on
June 27, 1950. This was the first day of the conflict, the plane was
an F-82. So, there were lots of piston planes around when the bad
guys were still novices. The F-80's couldn't be doing all the work.

The truth is still out there!
