OK, here's the scoop: My earlier question was about changing crystals in JR receivers. I have two 8103 transmitter modules (factory-tuned for the channel they are each on) for different frequencies and would like to simply change receiver crystals when I swap modules. Other receivers (Hitec, for example) will operate fine on any frequency and, indeed, they are sold without crystals which suggests that there is no problem in doing so. My concern was with JR's single-conversion filtering system and whether there was any channel-specificity to each receiver, since they ARE sold with crystal. The technicians at Horizon just e-mailed me stating that receivers are 'center tuned' and can operate on any frequency that crystals are available for. I also made a call to an independent radio repair/tuning shop (who regularly work on JR equipment) and they confirmed this. Of course, none of this will preclude practical things like range-checking when I do it, but at least my greatest worry has been put to rest. Tom RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
