The rubber that we use starts stiff. The best thing to do is to simply set it up. Pull 
it back gently a few times (this will finish
stretching the braided Dacron to its full length and limber the rubber up) and then 
start launching. If you can use a scale this
would be very good. The pull for a Pinnacle L is 24-26 lbs. After about 20-40 launches 
the rubber will start to loosen up and you
will reach the full potential of the rubber. During the breakin (and anytime during 
storage) wipe down the rubber with a clean damp
rag let fully dry unwound. Inspect for any nicks or damage. Put it away loosely on the 
reel for storage in a cool dark place.

This would apply to any rubber, and make it last the longest time. Try to keep from 
using a high start in dirt.
