Hi Chuck-
I can tell you one thing about Navy Aces, not all of them are "very quiet guys". Six
of us Line Officers had a bunkroom adjacent
to a couple Fly Boys aboard the USS Constellation during the Viet Nam War in 1972.
The pilot, Lt. Randy Cunningham and his Radar
Intercept Operator Ltjg.
Driscoll would keep us awake all night with their antics. They became the first Aces
of the war on one particular day. Talk about
party animals! They made the movie "Top Gun" look like kids play.
Scott
Oh, what ever happened to Randy Cunningham? Well, they hustled him off the ship the
next day to tour the US and encourage
enlistment, etc. He became an instructor at the Top Gun school before leaving
military service. Now, he is non other than
Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham. (and if I know anything about our elected
officials, the party just began)
