Make it 36" wide at least, mine is 40" wide, it seemed that 48" was too much 
of a reach, but it isn't really becouse you will put tools or shelves or 
lights or a small parts chest etc. Make sure you put the height where you do 
not need to lean over while standing,... saves your back.
