Fellow Soaring Enthusiast,

I am torn between getting two different gliders with two different
airfoils. Glider # 1 the Artemis F3J with the SA 7035 airfoil
(http://www2.jonction.net/~icare/Artemis.htm) and glider # 2 the El Camino
F3B with the MH-32 airfoil (http://www2.jonction.net/~icare/elcamino.htm)

I am not sure what flight performance to expect between these two
gliders due to their differing airfoils and am being told conflicting
stories as to performance from different distributors. One distributor went
so far as to say that "the SA 7035 and MH-32 are almost the exact same in
performance based on airfoils alone". He backed his statement up with lift/
drag polars in the 112000 reynolds number range. I am not quite sure that I
believe this, but I have no experience with either of these two airfoils and
don't quite know who to believe.

My question is: what are the differences between the SA 7035 and
the MH-32? And what flight characteristics will I observe with each? I'm
looking for a good quality "sloper/cruiser" with excellent thermalling
qualities. Which airfoil would you choose? You know the story...I want the
airfoil that gives me the best qualities of both worlds, speed/ranging
ability and thermalability.

Any help you could give me would be much appreciated. Thanks for
your time. Also, if anyone has seen or flown either the Artemis or El
Camino, I would like to hear your opinions of them.

Sincerely Rob Langhofer
