I speak German, I'm not american, and I _think_ I know what is meant, so my
question is:
Why is it that I have the strong impression (and I would be very happy to be
proven wrong) that most Americans think the US is the _ONLY_ free country in
the world ?

Sometimes we wonder about what the world perceives as freedom.
--How much of other countries' services are nationalized or socialized?
--Is medical care provided in an open manner, or socialized such as in Canada, or Britain?
--how much regulation is there regarding motor vehicles, firearms, and the right to hunt?
--What kinds of speech are permitted? Is there a prohibition about certain religious freedoms?

Certainly, we know best the country we live in. It was founded on people trying to guarantee these principles. Do other countries include in their foundational documents guarantees against the federal government intrusion into private lives? That's what our Constitution is supposed to do.

My questions are inquiries, not meant to be accusatory. I would like to hear your response.
