After lousy weather the middle of last week, we had great soaring weather this weekend in Minnesota. Saturday the winds were light, and thermals were plentiful. It is so neat to be able to catch a thermal at 25 feet and work it up slowly with very little drift. Almost every throw you could hit some thermal lift.
Sunday the wind was up, perfect slope flying weather. The Kestrel showed gusts up to 30 mph but it felt like 50 mph. This was the first time I had flown an aileron 2-meter on a big slope. It was a hoot to say the least. Flying on a big slope, the dips in the wind speed don't really make a difference, there is always lift. Almost makes going to work on Monday bearable after a good weekend of soaring. Bill Kuhl RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
