Hello All! For the first time in weeks we had a light breeze good flying weekend and folks were out in force. I loved seeing three open class planes and a large electric all up searching for the thermals.
Thanks to Bruce and others, I got my first aileron HLG up and flying, but his parting comment was, "don't be afraid to tweak it out." So my question is, how does one go about tweaking out an HLG. He helped me get my aileron -rudder mixing set up and it flew well, but when I did happen to encounter a thermal, I couldn't get a smooth turn to save my life. I don't know if it was just my fat fingers or if there is something wrong in my setup. It wants to nose down when I try to turn and my attempts to keep it in a level turn were pretty jerky with the result that I flew right out of the thermal and never found it again. I know not to add too many variables to tweaking, but would like to know how you with lots of tweaking experience go about getting optimum (smooth) performance from your planes. What's the first thing you start tweaking and what do you look for to know if you're done tweaking it?
