Cheap is the wrong description.  Crazy might be a more apt one.  If that
dimmer switch you are using happens to fail, and they do, especially the
ones that sell for $2.99 you could have 110 killer volts in your hands.  How
smart an idea is that?  NEVER USE A DIMMER SWITCH WITHOUT A STEP DOWN
TRANSFORMER.  Never that is unless you like tempting fate.  (read fatality)
