Silent Flight lasted much longer than expected. QFI did not do as well.

They both depended on their beginnings and prime running on the character
Dave.

When he got wiped out in a motocycle accident it was only a matter of time.

Every magazine out there takes your money for a subscription up front before
you receive all copies - as a subscriber you can cancel your sub anytime and
get a refund for the issues you've yet to receive. Did you try calling
Traplet at the U.S. office or in England?

I've gotten QFI since day one and it is a shame to see it merge away. Nexeus
rolled Silent Flight up a little over a year ago by merging it into there
main RC title RCM&E, now Traplet has merged QFI & E-Flight. The question is
will even this title last or will it be rolled into Traplet's main RC title
RC Model World down the road?

Obviously after a run of 7 years or so QFI just wasn't profitable, or not
enough to be worth publishing. That's the problem with a niche magazine, if
the niche is too small it may not be able to support the costs of putting
out
a color magazine. You can only demand so much from advertisers for the cost
of placing an ad, the rest of the burden is on the readership who will only
pay so much for a magazine. Just because you get a nice looking magazine in
the mail each month has no bearing on weather the publisher is actually
making enough money to make it worth publishing.

Heck, Airage gets practically twice as much for an ad in Radio Control Car
action as it does for Model Airplane News. MAN is one of the BIG R/C
airplane
magazines - and yet from the publishers point of view you can bet RC Car
Action makes Airage way more money than MAN. Go figure!
