This range is much less than the 200' spec'd by FMA,
or the 400' from inside his house by Ed Granger!  So,
should I neatly pack it up and return it for service,
or can the range vary greatly based on Tx?

Even the guys at FMA get busy.  What's differnt about your experience with the RX and all the other posts?  Your TX.  You can send them both to FMA and they will take care of you.  They'd love to find a 'bad' RX, its how they can improve their products cuz it uncovers shortcoming in their suppliers components or mfg, or assembly.  We already know the design is excellent... now its down to the parts.... but usually the problem with all new RX's is that they are just what we ask for...selective... so selective they won't listen to off center transmissions.

Think of it this way, you are going to be able to help us all out with your 'problem' :-)

You'll see that I forwarded this to Fred Marks at FMA... I have a idea he'll read it, since I just bought him dinner last week on my way thru Maryland.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks,
Gordy
