I believe the importance of the powered combat group being involved has been missed by this writer.
My understanding of the powered combat situation is that the AMA made an early ruling in their aspect of our hobby (wihthout the knowledge of the combat community) based on a provisional set of rules the powered combat people were working on at the inception of their competitions. This could have severly stifled growth in their competitions and was later changed by AMA. I think the powered combat people want to help keep us glider folks from winding up in a similar restrictive situation. We can learn from their experience and we have benefitted from their help.
