Hi, all,
This talk on zoomies reminds me of an occurrence way back when, during the
first days of zoomies, several of the club members were perfecting their
technique, and not doing badly for built-up planes. Another member, seeing
the results in altitude gain, asked how to do it. He was told, at the top
of the climb, stand on the winch, push down a little, then pull up. Nobody
told him to take his foot off the winch pedal.
As he tried it, all eyes were on him. When he pulled up, he tore off the
bottom of his fuselage, along with the tow hook, and the receiver and
battery pack both fell out, and the Aquila fluttered down and crashed. The
members watching had hysterics. It went on and on. The guy gathered up the
carnage and walked to his car and left.
The sad part of it all is, he never came back.
