Now and again a thread pops up here about great aviation books. Just finished one that deserves mention. It hearkens back to the time before GPS and radar when cables were the connection between the controls and the control surfaces. "The Long Way Home" describes the journey of a Boeing Clipper seaplane trapped at Auckland on Dec 7, 1947. PanAm ordered the crew to get the plane to New York but they had to go the long way to avoid the Japanese. Spielberg could make a great movie based on this book. It's a good read. Jim Deck
