I been thinking about this for awhile and have decided to run this format as
a contest this year in the Cincinnati/Dayton area.

I plan to run a hi-start H/L F3J contest. The rules will be pretty much the
same as in full size F3J except for the fact that we will use H/L's (1.5
meter) on a short hi-start and the landing task will be a little different.
My plan for landing is to have a 25 point, 25 foot in or out landing circle
with a kicker. The kicker is that you can stand inside the circle and catch
your plane if you like. This takes away the advantage of an aileron or
flapped H/L in the landing circle.

It will be run MoM just like a normal H/L of F3J contest, most likely seeded
MoM like most of the contests here in the mid-west. Task times will start at
5 minutes and go from there, maybe all the way up to 10 minutes like the
full size version.

This is a great way to get into F3J on a low budget. Everyone has a old
javelin launch plane they can throw a tow hook on. So dig out that old
Monarch, Logic,
Spectre, Little Bird, or other old H/L that is gathering dust in the shop.
You could even throw a hook on your new DLG if you wanted. This opens up a
new life for your old planes, and there are many ARF's out there that would
be great in this contest.

Well, what do you think? I think it will be a blast! E-mail me if you are
interested and I will keep you updated on dates and such.
