Mike,
I used to fly a lot of ships in the late 1980's that used HQ airfoils. As I
recalll the 2/8 is a fast airfoil. I had an original Snipe by Jerry
Bridgeman tha used a 1,5/8 for wingeron that was a bat out of
hell....couldn't slow it down to land it though. The series of airfoils
does well with full camber changes. My first bagged wing was on an
Airtronics Adante that I believe used a HQ 2.5/9 and was quite a multi task
ship for that time. I think you'll find that Quabeck airfoils are quite
good. My only criticism would be stall behavior at high angles of attack.
Camber/elevator mix might be helpful, if I can remember correctly, they
didn't pull through turns quite as well as some of the RG series. Let us
know how it flies!
Seasons greetings,
A.J. DiMizio

Subject: [RCSE] HQW2/8 airfoil

I had read an article by Helmut Quabeck on his HQW2/8 airfoil. I have made
a wing for my Fun-1 using this airfoil. I haven't had a chance to test it
yet. Has anyone flown this airfoil?

Thanks,
Mike Ashley
