The record is 36 hours 3 minutes 19 seconds, set by Nick Shaw, in the UK, in
September 2001.

The previous record, of over 33 hours, was set in 1983 in the USSR, and
stood for almost 20 years.

Prior to that the record was about 28 hours, set in 1978 in Australia.

As I recall, the worlds record, under a different set of FAI? rules, is
something like 27-28 hours, set last year by a flyer in England, who used
lights to fly through the night.  Silent Flyer had an article on the even
