I agree with the other regarding printing the foils and sticking them to the plywood.

I also recommend the use of Laminex (Bench top material) rather than ply.

The ply often causes wire drag. The wire can also burn into the ply causing ripples. I find that I can get away using ply maybe once or twice but after that the quality of the cut degrades.

My other suggestion if you require high accuracy would be to cut a set of bottom and top templates. I prefer to cut the bottom first.

Compufoil is a great program with some great advice on cutting cores.

Subject: [RCSE] how to cut airfoils
Date: Mon, 24 Mar 2003 09:55:16 -0600

Hi,

I am trying to cut some airfoils on playwood to be used as frames to cut
foam or balsa, however i have found it is not easy to transfer the airfoil
from paper to the plywood.

I am thinking just to get wet the plywood and lay the sheet of paper with
the ink face to the plywood so maybe it can get a good image

is there a better way to do it?

thanks and brgrds
