Schulze recommends keeping the battery side up to 20cm (8") and the motor side up to 10cm (4") long. According to their web page, if you intend to run a longer battery cables (future 9.12) you should add a capacitor with low ESR. If I remember correctly, similar advice has been given also by Astro Bob. On the battery side main concerns are voltage/current spikes which may cause imput capacitor failure. On the motor side the main concern is radio interferrence. My understanding is that the same rule regarding battery end lenghth is applicable to both brushed and brushless ESC. It appears that the lenghth of the motor end is less critical for brushed than for brushless ESC. Zoran RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
