A few years ago at Visalia, a guy had a small v-tailed RC glider
(approx. 1.5 meters), that was rocket assisted. I believe this was a
commercially manufactured kit. Does anyone know abut this glider, where
one may purchase one, or if they even exist anymore?

If it was an upright “Vee” tail, it was probably the old Estes Sweet Vee kit,
which came out around 1993 or so and lasted 2-3 years.

If it was an inverted Vee tail, it was probably the “Cuda” kit designed by
Kevin McKiou and kitted by his VectorAero company. The Cuda used a white foam
wing core with balsa sheeting, the fuselage was pod and boom with the pod being
assembled from laser-cut balsa components. Or what you saw might have been the
even more rare all-composite "Stingray" kit by Kevin, the pink
foam/glass/graphite strip spar wings had a curved dihedral. Kevin shut down VectorAero
2-3
years ago and the Cuda kit is currently out of production. It can sometimes be
found on auction. There is a chance the Cuda might go back into production
again.

I have a page on R/C RBG’s that shows a few models, and a few links:

BTW - RCSE regular Phil Barnes is a topnotch R/C RBG flier. He won gold
medals in the FAI S8E event at the 1983 and 1985 World SpaceModeling Championships.
And after a bit of a layoff from FAI rocketry, he came back to tie for 4th in
S8-P at the 2002 WSMC, and won a World Cup S8-P event held immediately after
that WSMC ended. He's on the US SpaceModeling team for 2004 flying S8-P as
well as a few other (non-R/C) rocket events.
