I got my new Artemis From ICARE on Monday. The packing that they do is some
of the best I have seen. The box was triple ply cardboard and everything was
raped in bubble rape. Went to see Troy about help get the servos installed
and the set up, This was on Wednesday. Troy was ripping right through it as
the wiring harness was all installed. All we had to do was put the servo in.
All was going well until we got to the elevator servo. There was quit a bit
off stickshon (spelling) in the control rod. We tried a smaller rod and it
was still there. Had to call it a night. When I got home found some 50 ths
carbon rods that work fine.
Went back up on Friday to finish up after a day of fishing. I ended up
staying the night. Thanks Lora for the use of the couch. We finished up
about 3 am and got to bed at 4:30.
Up at the crack of 9:30 had some coffee and toast shot the breeze for a
hour or so. Then went out to the field for a test flight. I had brought my
winch and turn around but in the hurry to leave on Friday forgot the winch
peddle.
So were at the field Troy says put your plane together and I will make a
peddle. He's moving stuff around in the van, then came over to the truck,
looks around grabs a peace of plywood. He's off to the van finds a plug and
cord a few drywall screws, metal box cover and some bubble rape. Low and
behold 5 minutes later he has a winch peddle and switch made up.
As I get back from setting the turnaround, he says ready to try it.
We do a couple of hand tosses and it is very close.
So we hook it up and try a launch without camber, it is a overcast day with
winds in 10 to 15 mph. Troy throws for me and it goes straight up the line.
Check the trims and could use some down so I put in a few click and no
change. So I put in some more then all of it. It still want to climb. I get
almost back and I'm setting up for a landing and Troy say are you still in
launch mode? We both had a big laugh over that one.
The next launch was with camber and it pull real hard, had to push some
down to keep from stalling. Took out some camber, read most of it, try again
it is still pulling very had but isn't trying to stall. The zoom was
impressive!
The next thing was to shot some landing. Let just say I was short on all of
then except two. Too say it stop when you pull the flaps is a under
statement.
I will be spending a lot of time working on my landings.
All in all it was a great day to be out flying and It is a keeper.

Hope everyone got to do some flying.
