The History channel did an impressive job with their recent program about several different folks who've built Wright replicas.

The interesting aspect for me was the test pilots that one group used to test fly their Wright glider. Fighter pilots and Chopper pilots. Impressive credentials, a good replica and yet it took them a dozen or more attempts to just glide down a shallow hill. An excellent illustration of how impressive the Wright brothers accomplishments really were.

  Made their own wind tunnel,
  Tested 212 airfoils,
Made 2000 flight attempts in the glider,
  Designed their own props,
Risked their lives countless times while testing...

Even more impressive was the stark illustration that the plane they successfully flew was nightmare to fly! A highly UNSTABLE, underpowered piece of junk with something like a -26% static margin yet they were able to not just FLY it Learn to fly with it! AMAZING.

Guys, Orville and Wilbur were bona fide HEROS of the highest caliber.

During the history channel program, I kept think of how RC models could dovetail into the show for illustration purposes. I think it could have worked well in a couple of ways but regardless, they depicted the events of history well.
