I totally agree.

Another reason for the cone entry to the zone is to prevent mid airs over the tapes. I have seen Nats without the cones and watched guys who were low in altitude fly low right across a row of landing tapes to make it to their tape and take out a model on a straight in approach. This is a good solution to that problem.
