Well, like I said, I'm only speaking in generalities. I'd suggest it best to
contact the event CD and ask. Maybe they'll encourage it. Who knows...

Yes, I'd guess that the Ham band would be a better choice. HOWEVER! The Ham
bands are usually so clear that SOME ham pilots don't pay much attention;
even though they know better! So, better in one way but worse in another.
The difficulty is that at an event there will be lots of pilots. I've seen
enough problems at big events to never be comfortable with that many Tx's
around. The "after contest" time can often get a bit crazy.

If the CD takes command of the situation and personally contacts any and all
pilots on your channel, then yes it could work fine. Just so that every one
knows that your frequency will be busy for a long time and agrees to it.
