I concur:
After using UPS exclusively for a few years, I now use FED EX ground
almost exclusively for what I call small stuff, and FED EX express saver
for larger sailplanes that don't require me to use airfreight service.
What I have found in shipping via any shipper is that the human on the
customer service end to a large part, determines the rate you pay. This
is somewhat true with FED EX in my experience, and especially true with
airfreight where I save up to $100.00 dollars per shipment because the
freight agent likes me and takes off all the bogus "extras" that I could
be paying.
I always ask for a quote before shipping at either place or a written
copy of the transaction.
