All of the cheap ones are actually a stepped square wave, it is only 2 steps!!!!
Thats why electric motors have a hard time with them.
They work well with soldering irons though......
If you really wasn't the best, you need an "Outback" they are true sine wave, 
but
one will set you back $2000.00 for a 2500watt inverter.
