When I was working towards my solo, primarily in Blanik L-13/23's, we often had to worry about towing faster than the max tow speed indicated on the placard.This was especially true when we were pulling up the older K-6's, etc.. We were using Maule M5's with Lycoming o-235's up front. Good times!

The SSA soaring manual states 150 to 200 feet long. The glider will be flying before the airplane has enough airspeed to leave the ground. The sailplane pilot will have quite a bit of forward pressure on the stick to hold the glider within about 5 feet of the ground. If the glider is too high then the airplane cannot take off.
