Jim, I'm 200 miles south of you, and while it's a tad warmer, it's just a
little windier and muddier than I care for, so when I'm not building, I'm sailing
my Kyosho Fairwind in the park pond and lemme tell you that thing moves like
a bullet under the 20-mile gusts!;-) When I finish my 2-meter America's Cup
lookalike, it will likely scare the wind into dying down... always seems like
that's what happens...

Meanwhile, while discussing radio controlled "toys", if you live in or near
Chicago, check out the American Science and Surplus center on Milwaukee Ave.
Just behind the Blue Angel restaurant (a flyer themed place). At Amsci, they
are selling a cheap knockoff of the multiplex/funtec RC mini sub (the one the
size of your thumb), for 19 bucks. Great for chasing guppies around your
aquarium, or reef diving in the pool or tub. The Funtec version was 3-4 times more
expensive, as I recall. There's also a very light, all-foam Rc pterodactyl,
about 2 foot span, using two VERY tiny props in the wings, placed about where the
real creature's thumbs would be. Steering is by differential thrust, and it's
so light and soft it would probably be good for indoor flying. Put a lipo or
nimh battery in it, take it out to thermal at dusk;-) I think they were around
$45. The store is online, and also has a very interesting mail order
catalog: if you like to tinker at all, it's a Mecca. I'm going back to buy a used
takeout PC power supply to feed my triton charger indoors....
