Southern San Joaquin Soaring Society 7th Annual Bent Wing Contest
Location: Earl Warren Junior High School, 4615 Mountain Vista Drive, Bakersfield, CA
Date: April 9, 2005 (Saturday)
Event: Precision duration thermal contest for polyhedral sailplanes. Controls are limited to rudder, elevator, spoilers only. The Ava and Topaz type models meet these requirements. Arresting devices such as skegs, teeth, etc are allowed.
Schedule: Pilot check-in 8:00 AM to 8:45 AM. Pilots meeting at 8:45 AM. First Launch at 9:00 AM.
Tasks: In order: 3,5,7,8,6 minute tasks. The last round has to start before 12:15 PM. Scoring will be 1 pt per second with a 1 pt penalty for each second over the task time. Landings will be full circle to a 25 ft, 25 point tape. Lawn dart landings will not be scored. Off field landings result in a zero flight score. Two pop-off will be allowed with CD's discretion allowing more if circumstances warrant. Open winch by rounds but you will be called up if flying lags too much, again, at CD's discretion.

Third Place-------$ 10.00Entry: Pre-entry is encouraged but not required. Entry fee is $ 10.00 pre-entry or $15.00 entry at the field.
Sanction: This is an AMA Sanctioned contest. AMA membership is required and will be checked.

From the North, via Hwy 99:
Take Hwy 99 to Bakersfield, get off at White Lane exit. Turn right , follow White Lane for 4.7 miles to Mountain Vista Drive. Turn left, drive .9 miles to Trailblazer Drive, turn right and park in the parking lot or along Trailblazer Drive.
From the South, via Hwy 99:
Take Hwy 99 to Bakersfield, get off at the new White Lane exit. The left turn lane is supposed to be open by April 1. If it isn't, then turn right, go about a 1/2 block to a turn pocket, make a u-turn and then procede west about 4.7 miles to Mountain Vista Drive. Turn left, drive .9 miles to Trailblazer Drive, turn right and park in the parking lot or along Trailblazer Drive.
