Each year at the end of the Wood Crafters Dinner I wonder who will I be able to find that can equal the enjoyment we all just received. The WC 04 Dinner guest speaker was John Nielson, one of the founders of the SOAR NATS. He displayed his old sailplanes that still looked like new and told stories of the past that stirred all the memories I have of those great days.
This year I am equally pleased and very proud to announce that Jim Porter will be our speaker. Jim was the 21st person to accomplish LSF Level V and the 194th person to join the LSF program. Bring your LSF plaques and LSF mugs for a photo with Jim and all of us that have accomplished Level I or higher. A small part of the Dinner evening will be devoted to the annual free raffle. So far this year, I have accumulated, two bench top, heavy duty, band saws purchased from SEARS, some small electric, bench top, cut off saws that are great for cutting wood, brass tubes, etc. and will add some good old woody kits and other goodies to the mix. We may be located at a different restaurant this year. Take a look at the Wood Crafters page on my web site and review the photos of the first three years of the largest gathering of woody only pilots found on the planet today. We have about 21 entries in our scale events, imagine seeing some of the greatest woody scale sailplanes in the air at Muncie. Spectators are welcomed, but don't bring a transmitter unless you have officially entered the event prior to May 5th. There are only two ch open. Ch 11 and 42. Buy a crystal set and join in the fun.
