The Volz Micro-Maxx X and Micro-Maxx XP are rated at 56 and 67 oz. in., respectively. Both are 0.51 in. thick. JR DS368 is rated at 53 oz. in. and is 0.5 in. thick. The HiTech HS-5245MG is rated at 61 oz. in. and is 0.7 in. thick. Is the HiTech superior to the others since it is 40% thicker?

Funny stuff Walter :-)  My kind of humor :-)

Thicker is more durable in the case of the thin wing servos versus the 'usual' wing servos.  Not much torque is actually needed for TD use if the linkage geometry is correct...optimizing the servos capabilities.  So while thin 'works', thicker usually works longer :-).  I know of a case of a contest being won in very windy conditons and the winning 3m moldie had HS55's on all surfaces. (was a test case for 'lightness' but ended up being the only plane the guy had left to fly that day) No zooms or harsh movements or landings obviously.
