An Ava flown by Luis Moya won Unlimited against 2 Space Pros and a Pike Superior....  In 10-15 MPH Wind!  Houston Hawks (4 flew), Two Placed in RES.  A Gemini, a BoT, John Luetke flew a Topaz in RES,  and a Sharon in Unlimited, I believe.  http://www.houstonhawks.org/

None of us wins or competes in a contest by ourselves...we need a sailplane to participate.  I think it drives most of us active guys and newbies nuts to see only pilots an scores posted.

I might not be able to fly as well as miamimike or Simon, but I can afford a sailplane like they used to win a major...or minor contest.
So thanks to AJ for supplying me the planes used for the top finishers in RES and Unlimited.

Interesting to see that an AVA won in Unlimited flying against an excellent national class pilot flying his favorite contest ship and a ship that has distinguished itself in Australia and the F3j Worlds...the Sharon Xtail.

Its not 'only' the pilot, a great pilot with a great sailplane is far more formidable competitor  than just a a great pilot.
