The retriever that out club has been using has a setup that uses a flattened ring to connect the retriever line to the winch line, acting as a slider.

I've personally been using a hard connection of dual swivels on the retriever line to a ring on the winch line with about 3 feet to the chute and have had good results, but another user thought that his plane was near stall just after release and thinks it may be related to the hard connection instead of the slider.

Thoughts, experience?
