Russ, I feel for you. Sounds like you have grounds to get an injunction. Hire 
a good lawyer and go for it, fast, because they aren't making any more land 
anywhere, and when you lose it, it's gone to you forever. If your club has been 
active in the community for a long time and well-known to the local councils 
and etc. you may have good luck.  Failing that, maybe you can buy out the 
farmland next door and go private with that.  It's much harder to lose a field 
when YOU own the land. Just imagine golfers renting the land for their courses 
from farmers and developers... how long would golf still be around?
