David, regarding the Vandal. I purchased a used one I spotted at the Nats. Now I have only been flying for a year a did not step up to flying a plane larger than a 2 meter until just before the Nats (Falcon 880). Unfortunately it was mid-aired. The Vandal for me even before it was properly set up and tweeked to perfection has flew like a dream. I still can't read air very well but I have had some great flights with this plane. When I have it going on it thermals very well and the brakes work great.
While I have never tried a full winch and zoom I have leaned on it pretty hard. Again being the novice I feel that the only thing that seperates this plane from some others of equal or more value is the pilot flying it. Finally I will tell you that while I have not met Tom Finch I can tell you that he is a stand up guy and good citizen. That means alot to me. It is important to me that a product has someone to stand behind it. Anyway that's all, off to the Pumpkin Fly this weekend with my Vandal in Cincy. Looking for some more wood.
