I have been meaning to do this for a while but finally got round to it today as a couple of students prodded me asking if there were going to be cross/bootstrapping projects this year.
So. I have added the following to the wiki: http://wiki.debian.org/SummerOfCode2013/Projects#Bootstrappable_Debian http://wiki.debian.org/SummerOfCode2013/Projects#Package_cross-building_continuous_integration This is later than ideal, but I hope that's OK. (I thought I'd completely screwed up for a while then realised I was reading last-year's timeline - phew). Both of these are 'more integration than coding' projects, but actually I don't think that's bad. There is still plenty of coding to actually make them work and it's getting things actually integrated that is a mark of success in free software projects. It takes a reasonably confident student to succeed at the necessary interactions (as opposed to hiding at home hacking), but that's OK - these are good people we want to attract IMHO. I tried to register as a mentor on melange but it says there is already one called 'wookey'. Is that me, or is there another? I saw a mail here saying that old mentors had not been copied over from last year. Wandering around melange for a bit has left me non the wiser. Can anyone tell me if I need to do anything there or not?
