Those are neat sites.
Regarding power consumption - I doubt that there will
be much difference between APs. For example,
to put out 1 watt of power on 2.4 GHz probably requires
a transmitter power amplifier that requires 3 watts of
DC input power. This amplifier will be a large source
of power consumption within the AP. The other significant
power need is to run the CPU. A more-efficient CPU
will obviously require less power. Unless you can find an
AP with a lower-power CPU than normal, it is likely that
the overall power consumption will be much the same from
AP to AP.

P.S. - Just curious what kind of overall power consumption (in Watts)
you seeing for APs? Overall AP power needs should
NOT really be so high that a small solar panel couldn't handle it.
